World Languages University Night! MON., NOV 5th 4-5pm BMS Cafeteria
The next German club meeting will be a World Languages University Night on Monday, November 5th from 4- 5pm in the BMS Cafeteria. We will be having a combined meeting with the French and Spanish clubs. There will a professor from the University of Kentucky to represent each language at this event. They will be available for the students to ask questions about the language programs at UK, their time abroad, their language skills, etc. The German professor attending was actually my German teacher at UK, Dr. Brenna Byrd. There will also be free pizza and drinks, and you can see the attached flyer for the event. I think this will be a great opportunity for the kids and I hope they can make it! :)
German Club had a great time celebrating Oktoberfest after school together! The students had a traditional meal of bratwurst, spaetzle and apple juice. They also decorated their own Lebkuchen, or gingerbread cookies, which are traditional Oktoberfest souvenirs. We had a great time, danke! :)

FIRST MEETING- September 11th 4:15-5:15 BMS Cafeteria
Our first German Club meeting will be on Tuesday, September 11th from 4:15-5:15 in the cafeteria. The cost to join German Club is $10 and the fees for German Club go toward food and other items we need at the meetings. You can either pay in cash or write out a check to BMS German Club. The German Club will be meeting monthly and there will be a different activity each month. Students MUST be in German Club to go on the field trips offered this year. 7th Grade will be going to the Nutcracker later this year and 8th Grade will be going to Cincinnati in the spring. For our first meeting, we will be having elections, putting German Club signs on lockers and voting for a German Club t-shirt design. There will also be pretzels and apple juice at the first meeting! We will be having elections for 8th and 7th Grade German Club President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. If students want to run for any of these positions they need to create a small paragraph about why they would make a good candidate. They need to turn in their paragraph to me by September 10th and be prepared to read their small text to all of the German club members at our first meeting. The President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are expected to attend most of the meetings and we will have some morning meetings to discuss ideas for German Club events.
